Why Choose Nursing?

I chose Nursing at a young age and was heavily influenced by female role models in my family.  I love caring for people, trying to improve quality of life for those I care for.  After working with children for a short while, I decided that the time was right and began my journey into nursing.

What is your focus in nursing?

When I started I thought for sure I would enjoy Trauma/Emergency Care, however quickly determined that palliative care best suited me.  I determined early on that I would like to own/operate my own hospice care center and educate Nursing staff of the passion that I feel for my clients.

How do you feel about the politics in nursing currently affecting nurses today?

I expect that the nursing shortage is going to lead to adverse patient/client outcomes.  If we do not address nurses being overworked and overloaded the entire system will begin to fail.  This creates a loop, as those discharged too soon, or the errors that occur will result in longer admission times.
